The man killed in Sunday's 4:30 p.m. single-vehicle crash on 4th Avenue South at Rains Avenue is identified as Jared Sherrell, 35, of Nashville.
The preliminary investigation shows that Sherrell was driving his 2015 Nissan Altima south on 4th Avenue South when he left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. Prior to the crash, Sherrell had been weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed. Sherrell died at the scene.
There was no evidence of impairment at the scene.
