For the 30th consecutive year, the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department is preparing to demonstrate its commitment to the policy and procedure professionalism required to maintain its accredited status through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA).
The department will undergo an annual web-based assessment from September 22-30. The MNPD Training Academy, which is separately accredited through CALEA, will undergo a web-based assessment from October 6-14. During those time periods, assessors appointed by CALEA will virtually review the department’s procedures, operations, management and instructional services to ensure that they meet the demanding standards set by CALEA. There are 461 standards that are applicable to the MNPD as a whole; 160 standards are applicable to the Training Academy.
In 2023, CALEA has developed a public access portal through which community members can provide comments about the MNPD’s service to our city and its commitment to constantly strive to be a model American law enforcement agency. Accreditation Portal Link
Important: These portals belong to CALEA, not the MNPD. There will be no response to portal submissions other than acknowledgement by CALEA that a submission was received. However, any information received will be considered in the context of the department and the Training Academy being able to continue meeting the hundreds of state-of-the-art standards adopted by CALEA.
