A 39-year-old Nashville mother has been arrested for shooting her teenage daughter in the hand during an argument this morning inside their Susannah Drive apartment.
Chantrell Allen is charged with aggravated child abuse and gun possession while intoxicated. She is jailed in lieu of $105,000 bond.
The investigation shows that Allen and her 16-year-old daughter had been arguing last night and into this morning. When the teen closed the door of her bedroom and held it shut to separate herself from her mother, Allen is alleged to have fired a shot through the door around 3:20 a.m. The teen was struck in the left hand, left the apartment, and was driven by private vehicle to Centennial Medical Center for treatment. West Precinct officers responding to the apartment found Allen to be clearly intoxicated and uncooperative. She was detained and then arrested. The police department’s Youth Services Division is conducting the investigative follow-up.
