The motorcyclist killed in Saturday's 10:15 p.m. collision with an SUV on Gallatin Pike near Twin Hills Drive is identified as Joshua Parsons, 44, of Nashville.
The investigation shows that Parsons was riding his Kawasaki Ninja north on Gallatin Pike toward Hendersonville when he collided with the driver of a Honda Pilot who was turning left onto Gallatin Pike from the Target entrance/exit. Parsons died at the scene.
There were no signs of impairment on behalf of the driver of the Honda. The motorcyclist had reportedly just left a nearby restaurant. Friends who were with him at the restaurant came to the scene. They told offices that he was impaired and that they had unsuccessfully tried to take his keys from him.
The investigation continues into potential contributing factors to this fatal crash including the Honda driver's responsibility to yield the right of way and whether speed on the part of the motorcyclist impeded the driver's ability to see him.
