The motorcyclist killed in Thursday’s 7:50 a.m. collision in the 1500 block of Gallatin Pike North is identified as Daniel Poole, 19, of Orlinda, Tennessee.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Poole was riding his Harley Davidson southbound on Gallatin Pike when he was sideswiped by the driver of a Honda Accord, driven by Tuyen Ta, 55, of Goodlettsville. Ta was exiting the parking lot of 1582 Gallatin Pike North. He reported that he was attempting to cross over to Pep Boys, located directly across the roadway, when he struck Poole. Poole slid across the roadway into the northbound lane of travel where he was struck by two additional vehicles. Poole was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he died.
There were no indicators of impairment observed at the scene for any of the involved drivers. The contributing factor to this fatal crash appears to be Ta’s failure to yield.
