A second motorcyclist was killed on Sunday at 4:15 p.m. in a multi-vehicle crash on Nolensville Pike near Goins Road. The preliminary investigation indicates the BMW S1000RR motorcycle, driven by Marco Macias, 23, of Nashville, was traveling south at a high rate of speed when it struck the front of a Chevrolet Silverado that was entering the roadway from a parking lot.
The motorcycle then crossed the road and struck the front of a northbound Jeep Compass.
Macias died at the scene.
The 32-year-old driver of the Silverado was not injured and remained at the scene.
The 22-year-old driver of the Compass was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center to be evaluated. Her 2-year-old son was also transported to Vanderbilt Pediatrics with minor injuries.
The preliminary contributing factor for this fatal crash appears to be excessive speed on the part of the motorcyclist.
The MNPD would like to remind motorcyclists to be visible, give yourself space, be aware of other motorists blind spots and wear a helmet.
