Murder fugitive Ricky Johnson’s months on the run came to an end Wednesday night after TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) learned that he was driving into Nashville from Sumner County.
Johnson, 38, is the suspected killer of Trashai Siske, 28, who was found fatally shot inside her Sealey Drive apartment last September 1. Detectives had been working to locate and apprehend Johnson since last fall.
As Johnson drove a Honda Accord on I-40 Wednesday night, detectives initiated a traffic stop near the Donelson Pike exit. Johnson pulled over briefly before speeding away. Detectives did not pursue him. A Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter crew radioed that the Honda was approaching the intersection of Moormans Arm Road and Buena Vista Pike. Detectives successfully deployed a spike strip, causing Johnson to lose control of the car and crash into an embankment. The helicopter crew watched as Johnson fled on foot and tried to conceal himself in the back yard of a home on Boatner Drive. He was apprehended moments later with the assistance of a canine team.
Johnson is now jailed in lieu of $503,500 bond on charges of criminal homicide and evading arrest.
