Acting on a tip, North Precinct officers this afternoon arrested murder fugitive Robert R. Smith, who is accused in the November 14 rifle slaying of Rasheed Walker, 31, outside 1811 Dr. D.B. Todd Jr. Boulevard. Smith was identified as the suspect on November 17 and detectives had been looking for him since.
Smith, who turned 28 today, was found today sleeping inside a car on Haynes Park Court. He complied with officers’ commands to put his hands up, exit the car and lay on the ground. A loaded .45 caliber pistol was seized from his back pocket.
Smith is being held without bond tonight on charges of criminal homicide, unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
