No charges are being placed for now in regard to Wednesday night’s road rage-related shooting on Atlas Drive in South Nashville.
Just before 7 p.m., a 63-year-old man called 911 to report that he had been involved in a road rage incident and had shot at another driver who he said was chasing him in a white pickup truck. A short time later, a 37-year-old man (the driver of the truck) called 911 from a residence on Harlin Drive to report that he had been wounded in the face.
The 63-year-old told detectives that as he turned onto Nolensville Pike from Thompson Place, the driver of the pickup truck began honking, flashing his lights, pulled alongside him and told him to pull over. He said he was unsure what he had done to cause the interaction.
The 63-year-old stated that he continued driving to work while the pickup truck followed. He said as he attempted to turn into his workplace on Atlas Drive, his vehicle was hit by the pickup truck. The 63-year-old said he then fired two shots because he was in fear of the other driver.
When questioned at the hospital, the pickup truck driver initially denied any contact had occurred between the vehicles. However, when informed that video footage was being reviewed, he acknowledged that the vehicles did collide as the 63-year-old turned into an Atlas Drive parking lot.
This case will be reviewed with the District Attorney’s Office for a determination on any charges.
