Proactive police work by Robbery detectives resulted in Thursday night's arrest of convicted felon Roy Dean Frazier, 33, after he was observed conducting what appeared to be hand-to-hand drug transactions at the Citgo gas station on Dickerson Pike and Ewing Drive.
Frazier was sitting in his Nissan Maxima at a gas pump for approximately 15 minutes without getting out of the car. During that time, detectives saw two persons conduct exchanges with Frazier. After running Frazier's license plate, they learned that he was wanted on an outstanding burglary warrant in Wilson County.
Officers attempted to stop Frazier after he drove out of the Citgo but he fled at a high rate of speed, at times in excess of 90 mph. Ground units backed off while a police helicopter continued to follow him. Detectives successfully deployed spike strips and Frazier was taken into custody. The aviation team relayed to detectives that Frazier had tossed something out of his passenger window into the wood line prior to his arrest. A small black bag was recovered containing a loaded semi-automatic pistol, several pill bottles, cocaine, and a digital scale. Additional pill bottles were found in the car.
Frazier, a registered ex-con for drug offenses, is charged with felon in possession of a gun, evading arrest, and felony drug possession. He remains jailed on $124,000 bond.
