The public’s assistance is being sought in identifying the hit and run driver of a stolen 2011 Subaru Legacy involved in Wednesday’s 8:30 p.m. two-vehicle collision that critically injured the driver of a pickup truck on Elm Hill Pike at Appleton Drive.
The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a 1996 Nissan pickup truck, David Dodds, 45, was traveling south on Appleton Drive when he pulled out onto Elm Hill Pike and was struck by the westbound Subaru Legacy. Dodds, of Mt. Juliet, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he remains in critical condition. Two young men exited the Suburu, one reportedly armed with a long gun, and fled on foot (photo attached). A handgun was also recovered from the Suburu which was reported stolen on June 22, with keys, from a Sutton Hill Road residence.
The preliminary contributing factor to this fatal crash appears to be Dodds’ failure to yield the right of way. Anyone who knows the identity of the hit and run driver is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
