UPDATED: August 4, 2023, Relentless work by Central Precinct officers led to this afternoon’s arrest of Koreen Bush in Birmingham, Alabama. Bush was located at a family member’s residence based on information from an investigation coordinated by Central Precinct Sergeant Dustin Chester, involving officers assigned to the evening bike unit that he supervises and Central Precinct undercover detectives. Sergeant Chester contacted the Birmingham Police Department. Members of the BPD’s East Precinct Task Force took Bush into custody. He will be brought back to Nashville in the coming days.
The public’s assistance is being sought to locate Koreen Bush, 34, who is wanted on aggravated assault and sexual battery charges involving the June 24th separate attacks on two women, the first in the 400 block of 24th Avenue South and the second in the 1500 block of Demonbreun Street.
The first assault occurred around 10:30 p.m. The woman was walking on 24th Avenue South when she was tackled and taken to the ground. She was strangled, fought back, and the suspect fled on foot.
The second assault occurred about 30 minutes later on Demonbreun Street where a woman was groped while waiting in line to enter a bar. Other women reported that he tried to grab them as well.
Bush stayed last month at the Nashville Rescue Mission on Lafayette Street. He may also be in homeless encampments. Special Victims Division detectives, Central Precinct officers, and those working special events are making a concerted effort to locate him.
