Unidentified remains found in 2010 have been identified through DNA as those of Marcus Rutledge who was reported missing on June 8, 1998.
Marcus Teshay Rutledge at Nashville Cold Case
Rutledge’s car was found on June 30, 1998, at an apartment complex on Cabot Drive in West Nashville.
On December 8, 2010, a hunter in the area of Ashland City Highway and Pecan Valley Road discovered a human skull in the woods approximately 30-40 yards off the roadway. No other remains were found at the time. The skull was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office.
DNA from the unidentified remains were uploaded into CODIS where the profile matched to a DNA upload from a family member.
Foul play is suspected in Rutledge’s disappearance. The investigation by Cold Case-Homicide/Missing Persons Unit detectives is ongoing.
