Investigative work by Violent Crimes detectives coupled with the keen observations of Community Safety Center operators resulted in Thursday night’s arrest of serial robbery suspect Hussein Hassan, 18, on South 6th Street near Summer Place.
Hassan is charged with three counts of aggravated robbery for the September 15, 2024 armed hold-ups of a man and woman outside 201 Rose Hall followed by a man robbed at gunpoint in his vehicle at 800 4th Avenue South.
At the time of his arrest, Hassan was free on $40,000 bond for robbery and vehicle theft. In that October 2024 case, he and an accomplice allegedly pushed a man against a wall on 4th Avenue North and Commerce and took his wallet. Hassan, who matched the description of the suspect who stole a gold Lexus, was in possession of the car key for the vehicle when he was arrested.
Warrants in the September 2024 cases were issued in February. Efforts to locate Hassan continued until his arrest last night. He is currently jailed in lieu of $150,000 bond.
