Detectives tonight arrested Desmond M. Tyler, 22, as the second suspect in the January 30 attack and shooting of a 26-year-old Nashville woman as she walked on Esteswood Drive at Trimble Road.
Tyler was taken into custody on Merritt Street in Old Hickory by members of the MNPD’s Non-Lethal Shooting Team and detectives assigned to the TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) Unit. Arrest warrants issued this evening charge Tyler with attempted criminal homicide, especially aggravated kidnapping, especially aggravated robbery, and using a gun in the commission of a dangerous felony. Information developed during the non-stop investigation, including a review of surveillance footage, led to the identification of Tyler as the second suspect. Tyler is now jailed in lieu of $915,000 bond.
Early Sunday, detectives charged Michael A. Green, 19, with attempted criminal homicide, especially aggravated robbery, and especially aggravated kidnapping in this case.
He is alleged to have used his Dodge Avenger sedan to commit the crime.
Green is also facing charges of carjacking, use of a gun in the commission of a dangerous felony, and unlawful gun possession stemming from a January 23 case in which Green is alleged to have robbed a 43-year-old woman of her Dodge Journey minivan on Burnett Road in Old Hickory.
At the time of Green’s apprehension last weekend, he was free on $55,000 bond stemming from his May 2022 arrest on charges of especially aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery. In that case, Green is alleged to have robbed a man at gunpoint at a Madison apartment complex, bound the victim’s arms and legs with duct tape, and placed him into the trunk of a car. The victim said he was driven to a wooded area near Percy Priest Dam and then released.
Green is being held in lieu of $1.32 million bond.
