Update: The semi-truck driver killed in the overnight crash on I-24 has been identified as Bolton James Harry-Algeo, 31, of Barron, Wisconsin.
A semi-truck driver has died following Monday’s single-vehicle crash just before midnight on I-24 West near the I-40 split. The preliminary investigation indicates traffic in front of the tractor trailer had slowed, causing the driver to abruptly apply the brakes.
The trailer was carrying a load with two large steel beams, which shifted forward and intruded into the cab of the truck. The truck ultimately rolled to a stop on the left retaining wall.
The driver, tentatively identified as a 31-year-old man from Barron, Wisconsin, died at the scene. The Medical Examiner’s Office will work to positively identify him.
