Outstanding work by our Violent Crimes detectives and TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) Unit led to the arrest of a 17-year-old wanted for questioning in multiple carjacking and shooting cases. Last night, investigation by TITANS detectives into the whereabouts of the teen led them to the Edgehill neighborhood where he was spotted inside a stolen Toyota Highlander.
Detectives blocked the Highlander and the eight occupants fled. All suspects, including the 17-year-old, were taken into custody. Multiple firearms were found inside the vehicle at the time of their arrest, two of which were reported stolen.
All eight occupants were charged with vehicle theft and evading arrest. Three teenagers were charged with being a juvenile in possession of a handgun.
For now, the teen has been charged with vehicle theft and evading arrest. Detectives expect charges will be added following photo lineups for carjacking, vehicle theft and shooting cases the teen is believed to be involved in.
