Six teenagers were arrested Saturday morning by detectives after they were found driving in two stolen vehicles with a pistol in each car.
Violent Crimes Division detectives first spotted a stolen Hyundai Elantra driving through Antioch neighborhoods when it was joined by a Kia Soul that followed in tandem before the cars eventually separated. Detectives disabled the Hyundai on Murfreesboro Pike at Bell Road and arrested the 15-year-old driver, who was armed with a pistol that had an extended magazine.
The Hyundai had been stolen on Friday. The 15-year-old was charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft, evading arrest and juvenile handgun possession.
While detectives remained in the area, the same stolen Kia Soul was located entering a parking lot on Murfreesboro Pike. The Kia, which was stolen on Thursday, fled from detectives until it reached a dead end on Valor Way and five occupants ran off.
All five were apprehended, including a 14-year-old who is a persistent juvenile offender for vehicle and robbery related crimes.
Four of the teens, three 16-year-olds and the 14-year-old were charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft and evading arrest. A 16-year-old was armed with a pistol at the time of her arrest. She was also charged with juvenile handgun possession.
Alexander Calmo, 18, was apprehended by an MNPD Canine Unit. He was charged with vehicle theft and evading arrest. He remains jailed today on $35,000 bond.
