A continuing Homicide Unit investigation, in coordination with detectives from the Joliet, Illinois Police Department, has led to tonight’s issuance of a murder warrant charging Andra Christman with the fatal shooting of Starlena Sullivan, 31, whose body was found December 21 in a creek off Fairview Drive by a teen walking his dog.
Christman, 49, Sullivan’s boyfriend, had been sought for questioning in her murder, but detectives were unable to locate him locally. Christman was also wanted on a probation violation warrant related to a felony gun conviction.
On Thursday, Nashville detectives received word from their counterparts in Joliet, Illinois, that Christman was believed to be there, and that they had received information concerning his alleged involvement in Sullivan’s murder. Joliet Police SWAT officers arrested Christman on the Nashville probation violation warrant early today at a residence there. MNPD Homicide detectives traveled to Illinois to interview Christman. He refused to speak with them about Sullivan’s death. However, an interview with a citizen in Illinois provided the information necessary for the issuance of the murder warrant.
Christman is being held without bond in Illinois pending extradition proceedings to return him to Nashville.
