Updated: Murder suspect Juan Edgardo Izaguerra-Montoya is now booked into the Metro Jail. He is charged with criminal homicide.
Murder suspect Juan Edgardo Izaguerra-Montoya, 31, wanted for Tuesday afternoon’s fatal shooting of a co-worker at a 5833 Nolensville Pike construction site, was taken into custody during the night by the Tennessee Highway Patrol and Knox County deputies at an interstate weigh station. A criminal homicide arrest warrant charging Izaguerra-Montoya with the murder of Santos Reynario Ramirez-Martinez, 42, was issued Tuesday night. He will be returned to Nashville soon.
The investigation to this point shows that Izaguerra-Montoya arrived at the construction site shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday on his off day. Ramirez-Martinez was working on the 4th floor of the building when a witness suddenly heard several gunshots and saw Izaguerra-Montoya running away. Homicide and TITANS detectives worked to quickly obtain information about Izaguerra-Montoya and his white GMC pickup truck. The detail was relayed to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, resulting in the overnight arrest.
Homicide Unit Detective Adam Reese is leading this investigation.
