Both suspects involved in Saturday night’s evasion in stolen vehicles where a Midtown Hills Precinct officer was injured remain jailed today.
MNPD Aviation began following a stolen Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon after Brentwood Police Department notified MNPD the drivers were believed to be involved in nearly two dozen vehicle burglaries in Brentwood. The Yukon was reported stolen from Fairlane Drive on September 14. The suspects entered the front door of an unlocked home, grabbed the keys and drove off. The Suburban was stolen from Brentwood. With aviation overhead, officers located the two stolen vehicles on Nolensville Pike where they stopped and both drivers got out. Kaylee Whittaker, 23, of Cookeville, the driver of the Yukon, was apprehended.
Jared Richardson, 20, the driver of the Suburban, ran towards the Yukon and struck the Midtown Hills Precinct officer as he fled. The officer sustained minor injuries to his leg from being hit by the Yukon while trying to get Richardson into custody.
Richardson continued to drive to Moorewood Drive where MNPD Aviation spotted him throwing a firearm onto a rooftop before fleeing once again in the stolen Yukon. The gun, which was confirmed stolen out of Williamson County, was later recovered. The Yukon, which exceeded speeds of 100 mph and at times went into oncoming traffic, was eventually disabled on East Trinity Lane at Gallatin Avenue. Richardson attempted to run off, but was apprehended.
A search of the Yukon yielded the recovery of burglary tools, drug paraphernalia, license plates, key fobs, a key programmer and thousands of dollars cash.
Whittaker remains jailed on $26,000 bond.
Richardson remains jailed on $126,000 bond.
