Specialized Investigations Division detectives this afternoon located the Dodge SUV involved in this morning’s apparent road rage-related shooting outside the Justice A. A. Birch Courthouse on 2nd Avenue North. The vehicle was spotted at a Goodlettsville apartment complex and has been impounded. Detectives continue to follow strong leads as they work to apprehend the shooter.
The 50-year-old woman shot in this incident received a minor wound to her shoulder. She was treated/released from Vanderbilt and then booked this afternoon on an outstanding probation violation warrant.
The shooting occurred at 8:40 a.m. today in the cutout driveway in front of the Birch building. The victim was a passenger in a white sedan that was stopped in the driveway. The Dodge pulled in behind the white car. The driver of the Dodge began honking the horn and yelled for the driver of the white sedan to move on. The victim got out of the car and approached the SUV. At that point, shots were fired. The victim went inside the Birch Building and received emergency care before being transported to the hospital. The SUV quickly fled the area.
The victim had come to the courthouse to appear as a defendant in a domestic assault case.
