Homicide detectives are pursuing strong leads in Saturday's 10:20 p.m. fatal shooting of Ja'Quan Nolan, 17, outside the Forest Park apartments in the 6900 block of Highway 70 South.
According to witnesses, a physical altercation broke out between two females. After the fight, gunfire erupted between individuals who fled the area. Nolan, who was visiting friends at the complex, died at the scene.
A 24-year-old man sustained a graze wound to his chest. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment. Homicide detectives interviewed him upon his release. He denied involvement in the shooting and was arrested on an outstanding failure to appear warrant.
The case has been staffed with the District Attorney's Office. The investigation is continuing.
