A 17-year-old arrested Wednesday night as he fled from a stolen 2021 Ford F-150 pickup truck was also wanted on charges of reckless endangerment, vandalism and juvenile gun possession stemming from an exchange of gunfire July 24 in the parking lot of a Brick Church Pike motel. No one was hit during the shooting.
Violent Crimes detectives spotted the stolen truck Wednesday on E. Nocturne Drive. Law enforcement helicopters followed it to a home in the 300 block of Ewing Drive. The 17-year-old and Deshawn Williams, 28, had gotten out of the truck and were walking when detectives moved in. One of them had tossed the truck key in a nearby ditch.
Williams is charged with auto theft and is jailed in lieu of $7,500 bond. The teen was taken to juvenile detention.
The pickup truck was taken during the early morning hours of September 20 from a Dickerson Pike motel. The key had been left inside the vehicle.
