Detectives tonight arrested two brothers, ages 16 and 14, for murder and attempted murder in connection with last Saturday night's gunfire at Willow Pointe Apartments on Hickory Hollow Terrace that killed Marek A. Winters, 22, and wounded his 16-year-old friend.
Assistance from the community helped lead to the identification of Therese Gaddy, 16, and Justus Gaddy, 14, as the suspects. Juvenile Court arrest orders charging the brothers with criminal homicide, attempted criminal homicide, and unlawful gun possession were issued this afternoon. TITANS Unit detectives located both teens inside an apartment on Hobson Pike. They implicated themselves in the case during an interview at police headquarters with Homicide Detective Chris Beery.
The Gaddy brothers were found at the apartment of their godmother, Erica Haddock. During the execution of a search warrant there tonight, detectives located approximately 15 grams of cocaine, 43 grams of marijuana, digital scales, a grinder, and plastic baggies in Haddock's bedroom. She was arrested on felony cocaine and marijuana charges, a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge, and a misdemeanor charge of harboring or hiding a child runaway. Therese Gaddy ran away from Department of Children's Services custody on May 30, 2025. Haddock acknowledged that she knew he was a runaway. A judicial commissioner tonight set bond for Haddock at $19,000.
After being shot in a car at the apartment complex last Saturday night, Winters drove himself and his 16-year-old friend to the Mapco convenience store on Bell Road where they crashed. Both were transported from there to Vanderbilt. Winters died shortly after arrival. The 16-year-old had non-life-threatening injuries. They were reportedly at the apartment complex to conduct a drug transaction.
