Investigation by Violent Crimes detectives Saturday afternoon resulted in the arrest of three auto theft/burglary suspects, two male 17-year-olds and Donald King, 18, and the recovery of a handgun and stolen wallet.
Detectives initially spotted a stolen gray Acura MDX pull out of the 7-Eleven at 365 White Bridge Road at a high rate of speed. They followed the SUV until additional units arrived in the area. The vehicle ultimately traveled north on Briley Parkway and exited on Ashland City Highway where the suspects became aware of a police presence. They began driving recklessly on Ashland City Highway at excessive speeds. A police helicopter relayed information to ground units below. The suspects briefly stopped at an apartment complex in the 3900 block of Clarksville Pike before driving off. Officers then successfully deployed spike strips. The stolen SUV ultimately stopped on E Fairview Drive where all three teens fled on foot. They were taken into custody after a brief pursuit. As the 17-year-old driver fled, he tossed a 9-millimeter handgun on the ground. Detectives also located a wallet in the SUV that had been reported stolen Thursday morning in an auto burglary at 3025 Charlotte Avenue. The Acura had been reported stolen overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning from a Rice Road apartment complex in South Nashville.
Both 17-year-olds are charged in Juvenile Court with vehicle theft and evading arrest. The driver is also charged with juvenile handgun possession. Both of these teens were previously arrested for their involvement in the August 2023 non-fatal shooting of a 14-year-old boy inside the Bordeaux Public Library. One was charged with aggravated assault and the other with attempted homicide.
King is charged with theft of a vehicle, evading arrest, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He is being held on $25,000 bond.
