Timothy Batts, who has been a fugitive since late last year after being indicted in the largest methamphetamine enforcement action in the city’s history, is now in custody. Detectives today saw Batts leaving a Madison apartment complex. He was followed until officers got into position to initiate a traffic stop. Batts didn’t pull over resulting in the tires to his car being spiked on the Ellington Parkway on-ramp from Cleveland Street. He then surrendered.
Batts, 38, is one of several persons charged with taking part in a meth conspiracy in a case that led to the law enforcement intercept of 800 pounds of meth and 24 pounds of fentanyl between November 2022 and November 2024. Among other acts as part of the conspiracy, Batts is alleged to have paid local residents for the use of their addresses to receive drug parcels.
A Criminal Court judge set Batts’ bond at $150,000.
