Update: Abanoub Awed, 21, was arrested a short time ago by Specialized Investigations Division detectives as the third and final suspect in Monday’s murder of Ahmed Amran, 22, on Nolensville Pike. He is being held without bond on charges of homicide and three counts of attempted homicide.
Around-the-clock investigation by Homicide and Specialized Investigations Division TITANS detectives led to the overnight booking of two men for Monday morning’s murder of Ahmed Amran, 22, as he drove away from a hookah bar at 2521 Nolensville Pike. Amran died at the scene. Two of his three male passengers were wounded.
Sadiq Al-Sahaf, 23, and Mohammad Al Rabiey, 22, are being held without bond on charges of criminal homicide and three counts of attempted criminal homicide. Al-Sahaf was taken into custody outside his residence on Thompson Place. Al Rabiey was arrested during a traffic stop just after leaving a home on Mossdale Drive.
The investigation shows that the Honda Accord in which the victims were riding was specifically targeted by gunfire. Work on this case is continuing.
At the time of last night’s arrests, Al-Sahaf was on federal pretrial release in regard to a drug conspiracy case. Al Rabiey was free on $15,000 bond stemming from his arrest last July on a grand jury indictment charging him with two counts of felony auto burglary and two counts of misdemeanor vandalism.
