Investigation by Violent Crimes Division detectives led to Friday night’s arrest of two teens after they fled on foot from a stolen Honda Accord and the recovery of two stolen guns.
Detectives, with assistance from Metro Nashville Police Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter pilots, located the teens, Maurianna Adams, 15, and a 16-year-old male, at a Stonegate Drive residence. When the teens exited, and attempted to drive off in the stolen Accord, a spike strip was successfully deployed. The car traveled a short distance before both bailed and fled on foot. Detectives saw that the male was armed with a small rifle-style firearm. They gave repeated commands for him to drop the gun. After a foot pursuit, he was taken into custody. The gun was recovered nearby.
Adams was also taken into custody. She was in possession of a pistol. During an interview, she admitted her involvement in Thursday evening’s armed hold-up of a woman on Harbor Lights Drive. The victim, who was out in her yard, was apparently chosen at random.
The Honda Accord was reported stolen Tuesday from a residence on Andrew Rucker Lane. The keys had been left inside. The recovered guns had been reported stolen by an acquaintance of Adams.
Adams is charged in Juvenile Court with aggravated robbery. Her photo is being withheld pending lineups.
