The front seat passenger fatally injured in Sunday’s 2:15 a.m. collision with a parked semi-truck on I-65 South near Trinity Lane has been tentatively identified as a 20-year-old woman.
The preliminary investigation shows that Landon Turner, 19, was driving his 2002 Honda Accord south on I-65 when he veered off the right shoulder and struck the rear of a parked semi-truck. Turner, of Nashville, was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. His passenger died at the scene.
There were no signs of impairment on the part of Turner, who may have possibly fallen asleep prior to the crash. Both occupants of the Honda appear to have been wearing their seatbelts. The driver of the semi-truck, Stanley Dobson, 61, of Virginia, was asleep in the truck at the time of the collision. He was issued a misdemeanor citation for prohibited parking.
