The man killed in Friday's 9:15 a.m. two-vehicle collision on I-40 East near McCrory Lane is identified as Gerald Edgman, 73, of Paris, Tennessee.
The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup truck slowed for traffic due to an upcoming construction zone. Edgman, who was driving a Toyota Camry, struck the Ford from behind, causing the Camry to flip over. Edgman and his passenger were transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died. His passenger sustained non-life threatening injuries. The 46-year-old driver of the pickup was not injured.
There was no evidence of impairment on the part of either driver. The crash occurred prior to the construction zone.
