Ebony Robinson, 28, is charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication after she struck two children Sunday at 8 p.m. in the parking lot of Overlook Ridge Apartments, 2400 Buena Vista Pike.
The preliminary investigation shows that the two boys, Chrishon Montgomery, 9, and Cayden Doctor, 7, were crossing the rear of the parking lot, Chrishon on a bike and Cayden walking near him, when Robinson backed her 2005 Acura MDX out of a parking space at a high rate of speed, striking both children. Chrishon was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died. Cayden was driven to Centennial hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Both boys and Robinson resided in separate apartments at the complex.
Robinson, who had a strong odor of alcohol, responded “yeah, I had few” when asked if she had been drinking. A Styrofoam cup in the center console smelled strongly of tequila. A search warrant was obtained for a mandatory blood sample from Robinson for analysis.
In addition to vehicular homicide, Robinson is charged with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and driving without a license or proof of insurance. She is being held in lieu of $203,000 bond.
