The woman killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday at 5:30 a.m. in the 1200 block of Kermit Drive is identified as Nina Page, 54.
Just prior to the crash, Page was driving her 1989 Ford van on Briley Parkway at Arbor Creek Boulevard when she struck the rear of a Toyota 4 Runner stopped for a red light, causing minor damage. She drove south on Briley Parkway a short distance before pulling over onto the grass median.
The driver of the Toyota, Richard Tubbs, reported that he pulled up beside Page who motioned to him that she was going to pull over. Tubbs advised her to drive to the nearby Shell gas station at 1330 Vultee Boulevard. He was driving ahead of her to the gas station when he saw her suddenly turn onto Kermit Drive.
Tubbs then turned his vehicle around and also drove onto Kermit Drive. He soon located the van, which had left the roadway in a sharp curve and struck a tree. Page, who was wearing her seatbelt, died at the scene.
There was no evidence of alcohol or drug involvement at the scene. The preliminary contributing factor to this fatal crash appears to be failure to negotiate a curve due to excessive speed.
