A suspected drunk driver who late Friday night was prevented from traveling onto a closed section of lower Broadway from 2nd Avenue by one of the city’s Meridian barriers is now jailed on multiple criminal counts. Michelle Rayshawn Campbell, 29, ignored the directions of an Entertainment District Unit officer to stop, drove north on 2nd Avenue to Commerce Street, where she crashed into three vehicles.
One officer was slightly injured at 2nd & Commerce during an attempt to break the window glass of Campbell’s Nissan Altima so she could be stopped. She continued on, over the Woodland Street Bridge, and ultimately arrived at her Emory Drive residence. Officers went there early today after running the tag number and found the Altima parked. It was impounded. No one would come to the door during the night. When Hermitage Precinct officers went to the home this morning, Campbell answered the door and was arrested.
Campbell is charged with 4th offense DUI, a felony, felony reckless endangerment, aggravated assault on a police officer, five counts of leaving the scene of a crash, felony evading arrest, driving on a revoked license, and vandalism. A judicial commissioner set her bond at $73,250.
