Kathy Morante
Director, Office of Professional AccountabilityVeteran attorney Kathy Morante joined the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department on November 1, 2013, as the director of the Office of Professional Accountability, the agency's internal affairs component.
Prior to joining the police department, Morante worked as a Davidson County assistant district attorney for 14 years. During her tenure in the District Attorney's Office, Morante was the team leader in three separate divisions of Criminal Court. In addition, she prepared indictments, consulted with detectives in homicide and sex crimes investigations, and was the lead prosecutor in a wide range of felony matters, including approximately 30 murder cases. Before becoming an assistant district attorney, Morante worked in the Tennessee Attorney General's Office as Deputy Attorney General of the Criminal Justice Division (1994-2000), Associate Solicitor General (1993-1994), and Assistant Attorney General (1985-1994).
Morante was the top candidate among dozens of persons from across the country who applied for the Office of Professional Accountability position.
