Lieutenant Hartley began his law enforcement career in 2006. He has worked as a Zone Officer, Motorcycle Officer, District Sergeant, Academy Instructor, and the In-Service Training Coordinator/Training Division liaison with the TN POST Commission.
He currently serves as a Patrol Lieutenant at the Central Precinct in addition to being the Metro Nashville Police Department Drill and Ceremony Team Commander. Lieutenant Hartley has completed training on issues surrounding law enforcement officers killed in action and in conducting police funerals. He has also completed, and is an instructor for, various leadership and management courses. Lieutenant Hartley is a part of the Metro Nashville Police Drill and Ceremony Team’s competition team that competes in the National Honor Guard Competition in Washington D.C. during National Police Week. Lieutenant Hartley was on the last Metro Nashville Police Drill and Ceremony competition team to win 1st place in the competition.
