Madison Precinct detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting that occurred yesterday afternoon in the Westchester Drive area.
Around 3:15 p.m., officers responded to the 1900 block of Westchester Drive regarding a man who had been shot. They did not locate a victim at the scene but soon learned that he had been taken by personal vehicle to Skyline Medical Center with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg.
A review of surveillance video shows that the incident began at the intersection of Brookdale Drive and Westchester Drive where there was an apparent altercation occurring inside a moving black Hyundai sedan bearing what appeared to be Tennessee tag 2W40K7. The Hyundai traveled from Brookdale Drive until wrecking in a front yard on Westchester Drive. The gunshot victim could be seen hanging out of the driver’s side window prior to the crash. The driver (surveillance photo attached) got out of the Hyundai armed with a handgun and walked around while a third man pulled up in another vehicle and placed the gunshot victim into his car and drove to the hospital. The driver of the Hyundai then got back into the wrecked car and left the scene.
Detectives are working to identify the driver of the Hyundai who is wanted for questioning. Anyone who recognizes him from the attached surveillance photo is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
