Juvenile Crime Task Force officers Wednesday night arrested a 16-year-old on outstanding aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping charges in connection with last Thursday afternoon’s robbery of a 62-year-old woman who was forced into her Kenway Road home at gunpoint.
Troy Cole, as known as Troy Garrett, was apprehended at a local mall after officers received information that he was likely there. Cole ran when he saw officers and was apprehended after a brief foot chase. His co-defendant, Christon Collins, 15, was arrested on aggravated robbery and aggravated kidnapping charges Wednesday morning at his Nashville high school.
The two are accused of confronting the victim just as she arrived home from the grocery store. When they first demanded money, the victim dropped her groceries and tried to get back into her car to lock herself in, but the robbers prevented her from doing so. She was then ordered into her home at gunpoint where the suspects demanded money. The victim said as they neared her backdoor, she was able to shove one of the robbers out of her home. Both then fled the neighborhood.
Video from surrounding home surveillance systems greatly assisted West Precinct Detective Kristen Morgan in identifying Cole and Collins as the suspects. Both were booked at juvenile detention.
