The facilities and locations listed below are experiencing closures and may have limited or no access. See each closure notification for details.
Park Facility and Feature Closures
Cleveland Park
Tennis and Basketball Courts at Cleveland Park are closed and scheduled to reopen in mid-October.
Elmington Park
The Elmington Park playground will close starting Monday, August 17, at 8 a.m. for scheduled maintenance.
Parthenon
Metro Parks is currently performing construction work along the medians leading from the west side of the Parthenon toward 31st Avenue.
Road access in this area will be temporarily closed. Construction is anticipated to be completed by November 3rd.
Richland Creek Greenway
The segment including the Trailhead and parking lot at 22 White Bridge Road, at the NES Substation, will be closed due to construction between 8/10/26–11/6/26
The boardwalk from Colorado Avenue to the 51st Avenue area will close beginning October 11 for replacement. The closure is expected to last approximately 11–14 weeks.
The segment close to the Knob Road trailhead and as marked on the exhibit will be closed from 8/24/26–8/28/26 for repairs to the Boardwalk.
Shelby and Easley Community Centers
The gyms at both locations are currently closed to the public.
Shelby Park
The Air Park Trailhead at Shelby Park will be closed for maintenance from August 24 – 26.
Bendelow Lane Bridge in Shelby Park is being replaced and will be closed for the next 4 months. Guardrails will be installed beginning Monday, August 31 through Friday, September 4.
The Eastern Lake Road and Lakeview shelters 1 and 2 will be closed and have limited access, respectively, during a construction project beginning August 24.
The upper tennis courts are temporarily closed due to maintenance.
The boardwalk near the observation deck on the Shelby Bottoms Greenway is closed for repairs. The boardwalk is located about 0.50 miles near the wetland area of the park.
Sevier Park Tennis Courts
Tennis courts at Sevier Park are temporarily closed for repairs.
Stones River Greenway
Closed at the section where the greenway enters the river.
Other construction at Stones River Greenway:
Location: US 70 (Lebanon Pike)/Stones River Road intersection to the straight-away between the Lytle Bend property and the existing paved paths (see highlighted area on map below)
Dates: The schedule for this construction is planned to begin Wednesday, October 7- October 30.
NOTE: During this time, the contractors may have flaggers to temporarily have rolling closures to allow for the movement of equipment, materials, etc. This will be more of a “one lane closed” situation as needed to allow for safety of pedestrians.
Temporary Closure
A section of the Stones River Greenway is currently closed where the trail enters the river. Patrons should not bypass fencing or enter restricted areas for any reason. Please refer to the closure map and detour route for safe navigation around the affected area.
Whites Creek Greenway Bridge

- From the corner of 31st heading south towards Oman Street, Park Plaza will be a one-way street during the course of construction up to the HCA south garage entrance.
- The parking stalls on the north side of Park Plaza will be closed, and that lane will be used for one-way traffic.
- HCA south garage entrance to Oman Street - this will remain two-way, with appropriate signage to ensure people do not drive north up Park Plaza.
