Hosted by Friends of Shelby Park and Bottoms at Shelby Bottoms Nature Center
Featuring artwork by The Chestnut Group, a local non-profit alliance of plein air painters and conservationists, who create artwork of local green spaces and wildlife to exhibit and sell.
Funds generated from art sales support Shelby Park & Bottoms efforts to remove invasive undergrowth in Shelby Park to allow native trees to regenerate and, in partnership with the Nashville Tree Conservation Corp, help to create an operational endowment to support the newly formed “Friends” organization for Lockeland Springs Park.
A Double-feature Art Show and Sale to:
Honor the successful fundraising to preserve 4 acres of green space from development that will expand Metro’s tiny, existing Lockeland Springs Park to connect into Shelby Parks and Bottoms
Raise support for efforts underway for Metro to pass bills to bring its Tree Code Standards to a level comparable to nearby counties and other cities in Tennessee
Fund forest restoration efforts in Shelby and Lockeland Springs park through tree planting, invasive plant removal, and community education around healthy forest ecosystems.
