Lantern Tour | $25
The Nashville City Cemetery is full of stories—come join us to hear about a few of the residents who met (or caused) untimely ends. This tour will begin at 6:30 p.m.
- Jesse Avritt Bryan had a bad temper—and was known for fighting. After several fights with fellow Nashville residents, he met his match.
- William Calvert, a saddler, loaned money to Thomas Carroll, but Carroll hadn’t paid him back yet. When the smoke cleared, only one was left standing.
- Lucinda Rose Pentecost was married at the tender age of 17. She thought she had a good marriage to a troubled man. When she fell ill in 1864 and was prescribed brandy as a medication, things took a turn for the worse.
- John Dickinson, a well-liked clerk, dueled with Thomas Jefferson Overton. After the duel was over, one man was shot.
- William Dabney Kernell, a grocer, was approached on a cold December night by three strangers asking for whiskey.
- Henry Hager feuded with a man only known as Woodward. At the end of the feud, both men were dead.
