Mill Ridge Southeast Regional Park
Southeastern Davidson County was identified in Nashville Naturally and NashvilleNext as the last quadrant of the county in need of a large acreage anchor park, with trails, playgrounds, and event facilities in particular as being needed. The diverse demographics of the Antioch area both economically and ethnically – this area of Nashville has the largest percentage of “new Americans” in the entire county – created a distinctive opportunity to provide a park designed specifically as an inclusive space for all Nashvillians.
Phase II - In Design
The plans for the second phase of development at Mill Ridge Park include two sections:
Phase I- Construction Complete
Phase One Plan Rendering
The first phase of construction on this 600 acre property in Southeast Davidson County, located near Cane Ridge High School off of Old Hickory Boulevard, began construction in May of 2021, and was completed in the Summer of 2023.
This section of the park is anchored by Nashville’s largest destination playground and a large event lawn for community performances and festivals. Addition features include a fitness equipment and trail loop, courts, picnic shelters, restrooms, parking, grassland meadows and almost 300 new trees. The Metro Arts Commission incorporated a permanent, interactive public art installation that must be seen - or heard - to appreciate.
Master Planning for Southeast Davidson County Regional Park
Master Planning for a new Southeast Davidson County Regional Park began in 2017, led by Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects (NBW), Hodgson Douglas Landscape Architects (HDLA) and Tara Armistead, with considerable input from citizens in the Antioch area. On December 16, 2017 Metro Parks presented the completed master plan booklet for the park to the community. This is the plan that, after additional community input and further rounds of design, would become Mill Ridge Park.
